Goodyear tyre supplier to KLM 737NG fleet
Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) has selected Goodyear as unique tyre supplier for the Air France-KLM Group’s fleet of more than 130 Boeing 737NG aircraft. KLM and Transavia will thus equip their 737NG aircraft with Goodyear Flight Leader tyres for the next ten years.
“We are confident the Goodyear Flight Leader will deliver outstanding performance on our 737 NG fleet and support our overall sustainability goals by their retreadability,” says Ton Dortmans, executive vice-president, KLM Engineering & Maintenance.
Goodyear’s retread factory in Tilburg, Netherlands is closely located to the main Dutch airport in Schiphol, allowing a swift and efficient customer service to further excel customer expectations.
The unique cord body shape of the Goodyear Flight Leader cross-ply tyre helps to reduce stress as the tyre cycles from tension to compression. Supported by a superior casing design the tyre will perform in a wide range of operating conditions. It features a specially compounded tread design and large contact area offer the versatility to operate on different run-way types. There are two mounted sizes, for the nose and for the main tyres, with a speed rating/unit of 225 MPH.
“We are pleased to work closely with AFI KLM E&M and to provide the KLM and Transavia 737 NG fleets with one of our most versatile ranges, Flight Leader. Our development focus is to deliver best-in-class quality and service to our customers as every landing counts. We look forward to support KLM’s and Transavia’s multi-faced operations while optimizing overall cost control,” says Loïc Ravasio, general manager, Goodyear Aviation EMEA.
