Undisputed test winner – Kumho celebrates Auto Bild result

With starting fields of more than 50 tyres and two rounds of product evaluation, Auto Bild’s tyre tests count amongst the most thorough and authoritative in the business. Kumho is therefore justifiably proud that its Ecsta HS51 achieved outright victory in the Auto Bild 2021 summer tyre test.

The German motoring magazine carried out the first round of testing at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany and eliminated 33 of this year’s 53 entries in the initial round of wet and dry braking tests. Kumho finished this preliminary round in third place. “However, while the ensuing qualifications caused the two leaders to slide down the order, the Kumho’s highly competitive and consistent scores in almost every discipline ultimately left it as the undisputed test winner,” comments Kumho. The second round of testing took place at the Applus+ IDIADA facility in Spain.

Awarding the Ecsta HS51 its top rating of ‘exemplary’, the Auto Bild testers commended it for its precise steering response, secure wet grip, well-balanced handling, short braking distance, low wear rate and affordable price.

Auto Bild tested in size 205/55R16, the most common dimension in the European car parc and one standard on many popular vehicles, such as the VW Golf and Audi A3. This size is one of 35 in the Kumho Ecsta HS51 line-up, which offers fitments for 15- to 18-inch rim diameters.
