Pirelli P Zero DHE tyres for Ferrari 488 GT Modificata
The new Ferrari 488 GT Modificata is a limited-edition car exclusively for use during track days and at Ferrari Club Competizioni GT events. Announced last November, the 488 GT Modificata makes its first public appearance this weekend at Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2020, which is taking place at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit in Italy. As expected, it debuts on Pirelli tyres, in this instance the Pirelli P Zero DHE.
Pirelli developed P Zero DHE racing tyres for GT3 cars. This evolution of the previous DHD2 has been tweaked to provide greater versatility when paired with a wide variety of GT3 cars and drivers. Pirelli says the DHE offers even more consistency and reliability than its predecessor and is able to guarantee optimal performance throughout a wide variety of different circuits and conditions. The Ferrari 488 GT Modificata wears the Pirelli P Zero DHE in 325/680-18 size at the front and 325/705-18 size at the rear.
Produced in very limited numbers, the Ferrari 488 GT Modificata is aimed at drivers who hanker to compete in GT championships, and Pirelli comments that the car perfectly “captures the spirit” of both the Ferrari 488 GTE and 488 GT3 racing cars. The 488 GT Modificata is eligible for Club Competizioni GT events, which are carving out an increasingly prominent place among Ferrari’s track activities.
The 2020 Finali Mondiali Ferrari was originally scheduled for last November but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This weekend’s event concludes the current season of the one-make Ferrari Challenge. Pirelli has served as exclusive global tyre supplier to the Ferrari Challenge since its debut in 1993. The tyre maker states that the Ferrari Challenge provides it with the “perfect open air laboratory”, allowing future road-going tyres to be developed using the lessons learned on the race track.
