Pirelli intends to make Covid-19 vaccinations available to employees
Well-known Italy-based tyre manufacturer Pirelli has indicated its willingness to “make Covid-19 vaccinations available to employees”. Writing in a statement published on 17 March 2021, Pirelli representatives said the move specifically relates to “taking part in the Confindustria initiative” and that the company wants to do this “through its own structures and in accordance with the national plan.”
It is not yet clear whether Pirelli’s vaccination plans relate exclusively to Italy or whether the tyre maker expects to adopt similar policies in the various markets in which it is present. What we do know is that, since the pandemic impacted much of Europe in the second quarter of 2020, Pirelli has consistently said “[personnel] health is the absolute priority and for this reason safeguarded with all possible healthcare precautions…”. Tyres & Accessories has contacted Pirelli for further clarification of the above points.
Meanwhile, here in the UK, Pirelli’s name has been associated with Covid-19 vaccinations since Burton Albion FC’s Pirelli Stadium was transformed into a Covid-19 Vaccination Centre at the end of 2020.
