Fantastic recognition: Bridgestone on Auto Bild Sportscars test win

Bridgestone is tickled pink that its new flagship performance tyre, Potenza Sport, has been named winner of Auto Bild sportscars’ 2021 summer tyre test. Scoring ahead of eight other brands of tyre, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, tested on a Ford Mustang 5.0 in size 265/35 ZR 20, gained the overall best score in the wet and top ratings on dry roads and was classed as ‘exemplary’ by the German magazine.

Bridgestone’s ultra-high-performance Potenza Sport gave the shortest dry braking distance of all profiles and was deemed to be in the test’s top two performers for dry handling. In the wet, Bridgestone Potenza Sport again had the shortest braking distance and was also awarded best in wet handling and best wet weather performance on a circular track. Furthermore, Bridgestone’s flagship sports tyre was awarded a strong aquaplaning performance that contributed towards what Auto Bild sportscars described as “a completely new benchmark” for wet handling.

While the Auto Bild Sportscars test was the first the new Bridgestone Potenza Sport has contested, it isn’t its first accolade – Bridgestone reports that during comparative evaluation with premium segment competition from Continental, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli, testing institute TÜV SÜD awarded the Bridgestone tyre top marks for performance in both dry braking and cornering and straight-line stability. It adds that TÜV SÜD also deemed Bridgestone Potenza Sport, which has an EU tyre label A grade for wet grip across its full line-up, best performer in wet cornering and handling.
