AA-rated GitiSynergyH2 selected in second size for VW Caddy 5 OE fitment
Giti Tyre’s GitiSynergyH2 has been selected for a second original equipment fitment on the VW Caddy 5. The tyre, currently supplied to the OE segment, is the company’s first to achieve an AA rating on the EU tyre label. The 205/60R16 XL 96H GitiSynergyH2 joins 215/55R17 XL 98H as a second size option on the production line of one of the best-selling commercial vehicles in Europe.
Martin Wells, director OEM Europe at Giti Tire, said: “Our excellent relationship with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is going from strength-to-strength, as witnessed by two VW Caddy 5 OE fitments and the VW Crafter (GitiVanHD1 205/70 R17 C115/113R).”
Aftermarket sizes to be released
The GitiSynergyH2 will replace the GitiSynergyE1 and GitiPremiumH1, both of which were part of the original Giti brand launch into Europe in 2016. The aftermarket model will be available from March 2021.
The tyre, whose core characteristics are safety, efficiency and control, was designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, with testing at the company’s MIRA facility in the UK as well as key locations in Germany and Spain. It is the first European tyre which utilises the AdvanZtech technology platform, the manufacturer’s globally-integrated, company-wide R&D system. AdvanZtech boosts the sharing and utilisation of specialised and advanced technology to create tyres which enhance the overall driving experience.
As a result of this technology, Giti is integrating a newly developed tread compound into its new tyre lines. It says the compound delivers “significant improvements in wet and dry safety.” The GitiSynergyH2’s new tread pattern is designed for precise and stable handling behaviour and improved aquaplaning resistance.
The tyre should also last longer. Giti says its mileage potential represents an improvement of almost 20 per cent, depending on driving characteristics. The tyre’s new lightweight carcass also reduces rolling resistance and improves fuel efficiency, Giti adds.
