Toyo Tires Europe starts 2021 on “full throttle”
It is not easy for tyre businesses to take away something positive from the past year. In retrospect, Toyo Tires came to the conclusion: “2020 was anything but a glorious year for the tyre industry. A slump in new registrations and also double-digit declines in the replacement market business. There were no dealers and no manufacturers who did not have to struggle with losses in the past year.” Nevertheless, Toyo Tires Europe is starting the new year “confidently”, according to the Germany-based European headquarters of the Japanese tyre manufacturer.
Economic experts agree that 2021 will be “a challenging year”, the manufacturer said, sharing this assessment and therefore hardly daring to “make a real forecast for 2021”. Nonetheless, the Willich, Germany headquarters are confident: “We can expect a lot of exciting projects and activities this year,” said Mike Rignall, marketing manager Toyo Tires Europe. “It will certainly not be an easy year, but it will definitely be one that will take Toyo Tires another step forward in the European market.”
The construction of the first European factory in Serbia will definitely be one of the projects that will bring Toyo Tires forward in Europe. The manufacturer wants to start producing car tyres there from April 2022. The ground-breaking ceremony in Inđija, north-west of the capital Belgrade, took place in December .
In addition to the construction of the new tyre factory, “further milestones” are planned, according to Toyo Tires, including: “the presentation of optimized products, extensive sponsorship activities and innovative marketing campaigns”. With these announcements, the manufacturer wanted to show “that, despite difficult times, only gives a sense: full throttle forward to its own position in the European market to expand.”
