Powergy – Pirelli’s latest summer tyre
After bringing no new tyres to market for quite some time, last year Pirelli kicked off a product offensive with the launch of the Cinturato P7 C2 summer line. It followed this up with the Cinturato All Season SF2, and the Cinturato Winter 2 will arrive in time for next winter. And another addition to the Pirelli portfolio is apparently on its way, too.
This new product is a summer tyre called the Pirelli Powergy. As was the case for the Cinturato family of tyres, Pirelli took the newcomer’s name from an earlier product, the 1999-launched P6000 Powergy. The new Powergy can already be found at certain B2C portals and on Pirelli’s own website. Pirelli describes this summer line, intended for cars and SUVs and offered in 17- to 20-inch sizes, as the “smart choice for drivers looking for safety and green performance with a low environmental impact.”
Pirelli states that the Powergy offers high levels of wet grip and braking and can provide precise handling in all road conditions while reducing the risk of aquaplaning. It adds that the tyre’s low rolling resistance ensures low fuel consumption and high levels of comfort.
