Pirelli a Main Sponsor of World Ski Championships
A ski holiday may be out of the question at the moment, but it’s business as usual for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. They’re taking place right now at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with Pirelli as a Main Sponsor. Pirelli winter tyres are also abundantly present in Cortina, with the Italian brand’s winter range fitted to the vehicle fleet supplied by fellow Main Sponsor Audi.
This is the third occasion that Pirelli has sponsored the World Ski Championships following its involvement in the events held in Saint Moritz, Switzerland in 2017 and Åre, Sweden in 2019. Pirelli confirmed its engagement in 2021 via an agreement with Infront, the event’s media and marketing agent.
While most of the Pirelli tyres in action on the roads around Cortina are fitted to current Audi models such as the A6, A7 and Q5 plug-in hybrids, the all-electric e-tron and e-tron Sportback, they’re also making an appearance on the prototype e-tron GT that Audi is displaying at the World Ski Championships. Pirelli has produced Elect-marked summer and winter tyres for the zero-emission grand tourer.
Join Pirelli in Cortina through social media
The World Ski Championships are being held behind closed doors this year, but Pirelli is opening them virtually to fans through its social media channels, allowing winter sports enthusiasts to soak up all the atmosphere. Stars from the world of sport and entertainment will accompany Pirelli’s social followers on a behind the scenes tour to provide a unique perspective on the snowy competition. Pirelli’s social media channels will also host a competition where people can win official Cortina 2021 merchandise as well as Pirelli tyres.
