North American recall for Continental, Cooper tyre lines
Continental Tire the Americas is recalling more than 90,000 Continental, General Tire and Barum tyres in North America that have been over-cured and are thus at risk of developing breakages in the sidewall area. A separate recall of approximately 12,000 Cooper and Mastercraft tyres in North America is taking place due to a possible low tread gauge in the tyres’ shoulder slot area which could cause tread separation and sidewall failure.
The Continental recall affects 78 product SKUs that were produced between the end of 2017 and the second half of last year – DOT week 5217 to DOT week 3820. The recall will commence on 5 April. Click here for a list of recalled tyres.
The Cooper Tire & Rubber recall involves certain Cooper CS5 Grand Touring and Mastercraft LSR Grand Touring tyres in size 225/55R17 with DOT codes 2920 through 3220, 4220 through 4420 and 5120 through 0121. These tyres were produced from 19 July 2020 through 9 August 2020, 18 October 2020 through 7 November 2020, and 13 December 2020 through 2 January 2021. Cooper Tire plans to begin notification no later than 22 April 2021.
