Dunlop Geomax MX53 gains magazine accolade
Cross Magazin has given the Dunlop Geomax MX53 its ‘Product of the Year’ award in recognition of the motocross tyre’s wide range of performance and longevity after extensive testing. In its January 2021 issue, the German specialist publication presented Geomax MX53 as its ‘Product of the Year’ for 2020, explaining that its performance window as an intermediate to hard motocross tyre and durability after varied testing was not only an improvement over its predecessor the Geomax MX52, but outstanding in its own right.
With Geomax MX53, Cross Magazin opines that Dunlop “accomplished the feat of improving a product that was already proven to be good and, as a result, in great demand. The previous product, Geomax MX52, was often the favourite with a wide range of buyers, as this tyre represented a very good compromise between performance and longevity.”
Best possible compromise
Compared to its predecessor, the Dunlop Geomax MX53 has an even wider scope of application, enhanced handling, better braking performance and feedback. Cross Magazin’s experts were impressed by these characteristics, noting its “best possible compromise” between grip and durability. “The Geomax MX53 has been checked by us on various routes and in a long series of tests and, in our opinion, comes very close to this desired balance [between grip and durability],” they wrote.
MX53 is a key part of the Geomax motocross range and was designed as an intermediate product for use on mid to hard terrain. The Dunlop Geomax range also includes MX12, for sand and mud, and the MX33 for soft to mid terrain. Leading bike manufacturers select the Geomax tyre family as original equipment fitments, and winning riders and teams in championships, such as the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) and Monster Energy Supercross, also choose Geomax.
“While testing the new MX53 with our riders, we realised how our R&D efforts and experience in racing all over the world turned out into a really balanced product for both racers and amateur riders. CROSS Magazin’s experts were clearly impressed by its even wider range of usage compared to its predecessor and its balance between performance and longevity. We’re very proud of their Product of the Year award,” comments Luca Davide Andreoni, marketing manager, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe.
