ADAC test: Falken “meets… all requirements of a premium tyre”
The Falken Azenis FK510 ultra high-performance tyre’s victory in the ADAC 2021 summer tyre test follows a “highly recommended” rating from both the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) and the Austrian Automobile Touring Club (ÖAMTC) in their 2021 summer tyre tests. The tyre achieved the result in the 225/50 R17 17 Y tyre dimension. This size is suitable for numerous medium-sized vehicles such as the Audi A4 or the Volkswagen Passat. The result marks the second win for a Falken pattern in an ADAC summer tyre test.
“We are very pleased to finish on top in this highly competitive segment of this renowned test,” comments Andreas Giese, senior manager product planning/corporate planning at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH. “Once again, we have demonstrated that Falken tyres meet all the requirements of a premium tyre.”
ADAC testers said the Falken tyre “convinces with its balance” and offers “top values” on wet and dry roads, ultimately leading to the top score of 2.1 (good). Wet performance, the most heavily weighted criterion, saw all tyres subjected to braking, longitudinal and transverse aquaplaning, handling, and circular lateral guidance tests. Scoring 2.0, Falken was close to the top score in these elements.
The tyre also performed in ADAC’s dry handling, control, and dry braking tests, achieving a further ‘good’ rating with 1.9. It added consistent scores in tyre wear – 2.0 (good) – noise, and fuel consumption to secure the top slot.
Falken has evolved the Azenis FK510 since its launch in 2016 to reach the tyre’s current performance capabilities. The tyre is now available in 96 sizes from 17 to 22 inches, with profiles ranging from 25 to 55 series.
