Tread durability up 38%: Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo 2
Goodyear has brought out a second generation of its summer van and light truck tyre. The first sizes in the new Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo 2 range began arriving in December, and the full range of 23 SKUs for 14- to 17-inch rim diameters should be available by the end of October 2021.
Internal testing against the previous EfficientGrip Cargo confirms the newcomer’s superior performance in a number of areas. Tread durability is 38 per cent better than the predecessor tyre’s thanks to a new compound that improves resistance to high temperatures and harsh road conditions. A new traction resin also helps the compound to deform during wet braking manoeuvres; testing showed that this shortened wet braking distance by eight per cent compared to the EfficientGrip Cargo.
“The EfficientGrip Cargo 2 is a new summer tyre that responds to the needs of consumers in the rapidly growing light commercial vehicle segment,” shares Piotr Nagalski, director of marketing for Goodyear Europe.
“Consumers are increasingly turning to e-commerce solutions and businesses are moving to adapt their supply chains and build last mile delivery capabilities. With fitments on eight of the ten top-selling light trucks on the European market, Goodyear is well positioned to respond to this evolution. The launch of this new summer product is an important addition to our comprehensive LCV offering.”
Goodyear’s light truck vehicle product portfolio also includes the UltraGrip Cargo winter tyre and the Vector 4Seasons Cargo all-season tyre.
