Dicastal’s forged and flow-formed magnesium wheels honoured

In December 2020 Dicastal’s forged and flow-formed magnesium wheel programme was honoured at the IMA Annual Award Ceremony. The wheel programme, jointly developed by CITIC Dicastal Co. Ltd. and General Motors, was awarded the 2020 Award of Excellence Process Category.

According to the company, Dicastal’s forged and flow-formed magnesium wheel programme is the first of its kind developed for the OEM market and is the fruit of joint industry/university research. By breaking through the technical bottleneck in the past few decades, this programme adopts unique forging and flow-form processes to improve the strength of magnesium alloy, a company statement explained adding that the technology results in a mass saving of more than 2 kilograms. In addition, shock absorption performance is also said to improve the overall driving experience.
