Micheldever expands tyre distribution with new Exeter warehousing
Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) has expanded its tyre distribution capacity with the addition of new warehousing in Exeter and the expansion of its Nottingham and Walsall sites. The new 22,078 square foot Exeter location became fully operational in the summer. According to the company, the site expands stock-holding capacity by roughly 50 per cent from 11,000 to 16,000 tyres, whilst also providing an improved stock-keeping unit (SKU) range of 2,518 SKUs.
In addition, MTS’s Nottingham location extended its operation with an additional 6,000 square feet of warehouse space added to the site. It has increased capacity from 9,500 to 14,500 tyres along with a small SKU increase and has also added additional office space, which will become the new operational area of the site.
The Walsall site expanded in October from a satellite hub to a main distribution centre warehouse operation. The changes and investment at Walsall have increased the available stock range from 11,000 to 50,000 tyres and added some 3,400 additional SKUs to what’s available. At the same time, new warehouse management and transport management systems have been implemented, all aimed at continuing MTS’s distribution service to its customer base.
The result, according to MTS, is “increased profile to support delivery areas, both AM and PM, and dramatically enhanced same-day delivery service in the West Midlands region.”
