Davanti supports emergency services with training and tyres
The Davanti tyre brand has been supporting emergency services in the UK and Poland by supplying tyres and training to certain ambulance and complex hazard services.
First, while the pandemic has reduced miles driven across the UK, off road expert Edd Cobley has been training key workers to be ready to respond to complex situations – all on Davanti Terratoura tyres.
He has been training specialist emergency service crews in a range of off-road driving, incident response and casualty extraction techniques on a series of bespoke, ultra-extreme off-road courses which emulate some of the toughest driving challenges in the world.
“All the crews we have been training tend to use a mix of specialist vehicles and either Land Rovers, pickups or vans,” said Cobley.
In one specific example, Cobley provided winch training for Northants Fire and Rescue with a Terratoura-clad Land Rover defender alongside a specialist Unimog off-road vehicle.
He has also given adverse weather driving instruction to East of England NHS HART (Hazardous Area Response Teams) in a 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter fitted with Terratoura alongside their Polaris Ranger 6×6 casualty extraction vehicle.
“I’ve also helped out the US Air Force Joint Terminal Attack Controller team with extraction techniques. Again, that training took place in a Defender on Terratoura tyres,” Cobley continued.
Polish distributor supplies local ambulance service
As winter approaches Davanti’s Hungarian distribution partners Gumiflex Kft donated 1 million forints (over £2,500) of Wintoura tyres to the National Ambulance Service.
Supporting health service keyworkers has been a common global theme throughout the Covid pandemic and this donation to the Országos Mentőszolgálat (OMSZ) Foundation – which operates Hungary’s nationwide ambulance service – will help ambulances to operate more safely and effectively as the temperature drops and vulnerable people require more medical assistance.
“In recent months, the biggest burden has been borne by healthcare and particularly the OMSZ as the Covid pandemic has placed incredible strain on health services,” said Márton Jaczó, concluding:
“We really appreciate the heroic efforts of our paramedics. It seems like they are asked to do the extraordinary everyday and we wanted to give them practical support.”
