VDO aftermarket range rebranding as Continental
Continental has manufactured tyres for more than 120 years, and these decades in the business have given it considerable brand recognition. It now intends to leverage the widespread awareness of the Continental name to aid its aftermarket vehicle electronics and mechatronics business. Going forward, its VDO line will be rebranded.
“Our customers know that Continental is a strong partner for comprehensive technological expertise in driver assistance systems, efficient connectivity, a uniquely broad product portfolio and the high-quality standards of one of the world’s largest original equipment manufacturers – and it’s this know-how that we’re aiming to underscore in the future with the brand changeover, states Peter Wagner, who heads Continental’s OE & Aftermarket Services segment.
While the brand name is changing, the products aren’t. “Original stays original. Our customers can continue to rely on the proven premium quality of our original equipment,” stresses Wagner.
The change only affects the VDO product brand in the passenger car spare parts and service equipment business. Continental will continue to use VDO branding for its digital tachograph solutions, fleet management systems, data-based services and the associated workshop business. Another thing that isn’t changing is ATE – Continental has decided to retain the branding for its portfolio of brakes and related accessories.
Products within the VDO/Continental range include OE-equivalent spare parts for passenger vehicles, such as fuel systems, actuators, common rail diesel systems and sensors, as well as service equipment.
