Jinyu Vietnam construction progress, as manufacturer targets mature TBR markets
Five months on from its groundbreaking ceremony, the first pictures from Shandong Jinyu Tire’s new Vietnam truck and bus radial tyre factory show the progress made so far. At its May 2020 event, Jinyu said the new tyre manufacturing plant would have an annual capacity of 2 million tyres in its first stage, supplying mainly European and North American markets. At its completion, due March 2024, Jinyu would have an annual capacity of 7 million TBR tyres, with a global sales footprint.
The Vietnam plant is being built from the ground up to follow digitalisation, intelligence, and lean management trends. Jinyu states that it “adopts advanced technologies, including The Internet of Things, Mega Data, Automatic Manufacturing Robots, Automatic Storage System, etc.” The company plans to achieve full automation in warehousing and logistics. It tells Tyres & Accessories that its fully robotised stereoscopic warehousing has been constructed.
European market focused tyre development
Jinyu states that its goal is for the factory is to be a “top notch technical enterprise… in compliance with the new technical challenges in a more and more demanding technological globe.” It says it will develop specially all new TBR products lines for the European market. It intends to achieve a “higher level of EU labelling,” while also improving mileage, stability, and overall tyre performance. Overall, it says its new products “will meet” current European market requirements.
The newly built Vietnam plant, housing a “professional local TBR team to engage with European markets,” will support Jinyu’s “vision to become the supplier of globally trusted” TBR tyres. Jinyu was founded in 1995, and currently operates two manufacturing locations inside China. It has an annual output capacity of 4.5 million TBR tyres.
