E-Cube UK roll-out scheduled for Q1 2021
With mobile tyre fitment take-up increasing since the pandemic, E-Cube equipment is aiming to become an “essential part of a tyre retailers services in the UK and Europe”. However, while things have been developing positively with the E-Cube in general, the coronavirus pandemic has is said to have “temporarily delayed” manufacturer TMG’s intention to fully launch E-Cube into the UK tyre market. Nevertheless, the final preparations regarding the distribution and servicing of the unit are being made now with a view to an early 2021 launch.
Until then, TMG’s special ‘demonstration vehicle’, which is said to have proved popular in Europe is available to UK tyre retailers interested in inspecting the benefits of E-Cube on an exclusive basis.
Pitching itself as the “latest innovation in safely changing tyres at the roadside and other places outside the standard workshop”, E-Cube has reportedly become increasingly popular throughout most European countries due to its extremely compact size that allows tyre technicians to work safely on tyres inside their vehicles as opposed to out on the side of the road. At the same time the unit provides a valuable opportunity for tyre retailers to increase their profit potential per customer through a series of other lucrative vehicle maintenance facilities whilst on a call-out.
E-Cube designed and manufactured by TMG based in The Netherlands. Recent additions to the system include new adaptable separate design for commercial vehicles and a special battery cartridge facility that slides in and out of the frame. A new development that enables E-Cube to switch operation from semi-automatic to fully automatic tyre changer mode is also being finalised. It is anticipated this retrofit upgrade will be introduced by the end of 2020.
