Vipal sponsors Vaculug 70th anniversary celebration
Brazilian retreading supplier honours the Grantham-based retreader’s 70th year in business following more than 10 years of co-operation
Vipal Rubber sponsored the 70th anniversary celebrations of UK retreader Vaculug. Vipal also honoured Vaculug employees Liam Atkinson, Jason Hughes and Paul Farrington in recognition of their collaboration. Founded in 1950, Vaculug employs more than 140, making it one of the largest retreaders in Europe. The company manufactures hot and cold cure retreaded tyres for trucks and OTR.
“We have a long partnership with Vipal Rubber, a company we identify with because like us, it maintains a permanent commitment to quality, from the products it manufactures to the service it provides,” commented Vaculug’s executive chairman, Harjeev Kandhari. “Receiving this tribute from Vipal demonstrates how consistent and genuine its connection with Vaculug is.”
Frederico Schmidt, general manager of Vipal in Europe, reinforced this: “Vaculug is a solid and diversified company, focused on quality products, that is on a never-ending search for the latest technology. In the year in which it celebrates its 70th anniversary, it is a great pleasure to be recognised as one of the company’s main suppliers.”
Leonardo Muller, from Vipal’s commercial department in Europe, notes that tyre retreading has suffered from low demand recently due to the lockdown imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Considering the decreased circulation of trucks and transport in general this year, the UK retreading market is benefiting from the reduced availability of new tyres for prompt delivery.
To celebrated its anniversary, the company held a party for employees and partners at its Grantham headquarters, including paintball and go-kart racing, Vipal also presented a plaque in honour of the company’s seven decades of existence to Harjeev Kandhari.
