New sizes boost Pirelli’s all-season range
Pirelli is expanding its line-up of all-season tyres in response to increased demand for these products. It is introducing a total of 22 new 16- to 19-inch sizes into its Cinturato All Season Plus and Scorpion Verde All Season SF ranges. With the addition of these sizes, Pirelli says it will be able to cover around 90 per cent of the potential all-season market in Europe, a market that it notes doubled between 2016 and 2019.
The Pirelli Cinturato All Season Plus now includes dimensions for 15- to 20-inch rim diameters. This evolution of the original Cinturato All Season range features a directional tread pattern design that optimises water expulsion through two wide longitudinal and lateral channels, reducing aquaplaning. Another distinctive trait of the new Cinturato All Season Plus is its 3D blades. The pattern is designed to optimise the movement of the tread blocks to guarantee better performance under braking and through corners.
Pirelli developed the Scorpion Verde All Season SF for SUVs and crossovers with the aim of providing a tyre that’s well-suited to both summer and winter use.
Mobility despite punctures
Both ranges are available with Pirelli’s Seal Inside technology, which allows drivers to continue driving with no loss of tyre pressure in the event of punctures of up to 4mm. A mousse inside the tyre instantly wraps around any foreign object puncturing the tyre and so prevents a loss of air pressure. Once the object is removed, the mousse expands to further plug the gap. The Scorpion Verde All Season is also available as a run-flat tyre, which can be driven for up to 50 miles at 50mph in the event of a puncture.
