GRI factory receives VIP visit
GRI recently hosted politicians from Sri Lanka’s Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation. Specifically, national dignitary Basil Rajapaksa made a visit to GRI’s new factory, which purportedly one of the largest specialty tyre plants in Sri Lanka and the first to produce radial agriculture tyres in the country.
Basil Rajapaksa stated: “I appreciate and encourage the efforts made by companies such as GRI in driving the economic prosperity of our country. GRI is one of the key players in developing and producing high-grade specialty tyres for the global market, using Sri Lankan natural rubber, and adding significant value to this raw material. I’m happy to recognize the ways in which GRI is contributing towards the economic prosperity of Sri Lanka and their efforts towards very high standards of quality.”
GRI CEO Dr Mahesha Ranasoma added: “GRI’s commitment to quality in its tyres begins from the careful selection of the finest raw materials to the finished product that leaves its factory. As part of its GreenX Circle initiative, GRI has opened many natural rubber collection centres around the island. These collection centres enable rural farmers to earn fair value for their work and GRI to take great care of the farming communities in our wider eco-system. We aim to unite farmers by underscoring the fact that farmers connect the world we live today.”
Prabhash Subasinghe, GRI’s managing director, further stated: “We are encouraged by the Sri Lanka government’s thought leadership, vision and clear direction to drive the nation towards prosperity through balanced social and economic development. Specialty tyres are a high value-added export.”
