ETRC Promotor’s Cup becomes Goodyear Cup
The former Promoter’s Cup category of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship will be renamed the Goodyear cup this season. The tyre maker has signed up as title partner for the category for ‘CHROME’ rated drivers, which is dedicated to upcoming talent. This ‘race within a race’ was introduced in 2017.
Goodyear has been an official partner of the FIA ETRC since 2016, supplying its truck racing tyres to the championship. “After being exclusive tyre supplier for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, the Goodyear Cup is the crown on our long-lasting partnership,” comments Maciej Szymanski, director of marketing Europe for Goodyear’s Commercial business unit. “Now more than ever, it is important to give all chances to upcoming talent. We are proud to do so within one of the most bold series of motorsport.”
“We are excited that Goodyear has extended its involvement in the Championship and will be the title partner of the Promoter’s Cup for this season,” adds Rolf Werner, from ETRA Promotion “Goodyear has been on board when ETRA first took over the promotion of the Championship and has since become a key partner sharing the same core values of top-class truck racing. The opening round of the 2020 FIA ETRC season in Most last weekend already provided for some exciting racing within the CHROME category, with nearly half the drivers on the grid fighting for the podium in the Goodyear Cup and we’re looking forward to more exciting battles this season.”
