Dunlop to bring new performance all-season tyre to market
Dunlop’s new all-season tyre will be called the Sport All Season. The Goodyear brand revealed details for the forthcoming tyre for the European market on its German website. It would be the first all-season model released under the Dunlop brand for many years, with no predecessor currently in the range to replace. The latest generation of all-season tyres have continued to be a major focus of premium brand manufacturers, with sales of such products showing sustained improvement in both volume and price. The new tyre does not use the directional tread popularly employed in many of the latest wave of all-season tyres, instead opting for a performance-focused asymmetric pattern.
Launch details of the new Dunlop Sport All Season are currently limited to those published on the German website, though further information has been requested. The tyre, as you might have inferred from its name, targets “[mastery of] all weather conditions.” It naturally displays the three-peak mountain snowflake marking for performance in winter conditions. Its tread comprises “generously dimensioned longitudinal grooves and numerous grip edges” according to Dunlop, which boost road contact in wet and cold conditions. The tyre’s compound contains “multifunctional polymers, [which] enable high flexibility and adaptability” in a wide operational temperature window. The Dunlop Sport All Season also contains a “high-strength belt… construction,” which increases cornering stability and gives the tyre sporty driving characteristics.
Dunlop has tested the new tyre internally against premium all-season competitors, including the Michelin CrossClimate Plus, Pirelli Cinturato All Season Plus, Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750, and the Continental All Season Contact.
