Liqui Moly becomes title sponsor of the MotoGP race in Teruel, Spain
The German motor oil and additive producer Liqui Moly will remain the exclusive lubricant supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 motorcycle racing series until 2023. What is more, the company also secured the naming rights for the Aragon Grand Prix at short notice. It will be held from 23 to 25 October under the name Gran Premio Liqui Moly de Teruel.
The Liqui Moly Grand Prix is the highlight of a package that the lubricant expert has put together with Dorna Sports. The Spanish company markets the MotoGP including the Moto2 and Moto3 series. According to the agreement, Liqui Moly will remain the exclusive lubricant supplier for Moto2 and Moto3 until 2023. The unusual aspect: The lubricant company did not develop a special motor oil for racing use. All Moto2 and Moto3 teams use the Motorbike 4T Synth 5W-40 Street Race. “When a standard oil can withstand the extreme stresses and strains of motorsport, it serves as proof of the outstanding quality of our products,” says Liqui Moly Marketing Director, Peter Baumann.
Pau Serracanta, managing director of Dorna Sports, adds: “We are delighted that Liqui Moly will be the exclusive lubricant supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes for another three years. This is an important part of the incredible success of both championships. And it’s excellent that the Liqui Moly brand will continue to be seen along the tracks in the years to come.” An investment that, according to Peter Baumann, is paying off in full. “The spectator figures are amazing, both at the racetrack and in the broadcasts. This ensures MotoGP makes an important contribution towards our brand becoming better known around the world.”
Dorna Sports and Liqui Moly have been partners since 2015. According to Pau Serracanta, the title sponsorship strengthens the joint partnership. “It’s wonderful that Liqui Moly is going to play such an important role in the Gran Premio de Teruel.”
