Gooding & Company joins Concours of Elegance to present ‘the greatest auction of the year’
If you’ve got a bit of spare cash laying around and some free time in early September, you might like to look in on auction house Gooding & Company’s ‘Passion of a Lifetime’ auction, being held as part of the Concours of Elegance event at Hampton Court Palace on 5 September.
The 15 lots in the classic car auction will be available for viewing on 4 September and the ‘Passion of a Lifetime’ auction (originally scheduled for April) will be the first time Gooding & Company have held an auction outside the USA.
We should add the caveat that prospective buyers will need rather deep pockets – the star of the show is a 1934 Bugatti Type 59, which was sold in 1938 to King Leopold III of Belgium, and is expected to sell for a sum in excess of £10,000,000. If you fancy something a bit less expensive, there is a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato (estimate £7 – £9,000,000), or the lowest estimate of the 15 is a 1924 Lancia Lambda 3rd Series Torpedo, which will set you back a mere £320,000 – £400,000.
David Gooding, president and founder, Gooding & Company, said: “It is our great honour for Gooding & Company to present ‘Passion of a Lifetime’ at the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. Car enthusiasts from around the globe have been anticipating this event since we announced in December of 2019. The world is eager to witness the bidding as these exceptional motorcars find their new homes.”
