Avon Tyres preparing to launch new AS7 all-season tyre
Avon is preparing to introduce a new all-season product: the Avon AS7. Boasting both 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake) and M+S (Mud and Snow) ratings, it is designed to deliver reliable traction in unpredictable weather and demanding conditions all year round. The tyre is the latest in the Cooper Tire portfolio, joining the launch of the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 Sport 2 (pictured) earlier in 2020, and enhancing the company’s all-season portfolio.
Standout features of the AS7 include an advanced construction and especially durable compounds, delivering an even footprint and impressive wear results; lateral 3D siping and grooves, which provide excellent wet braking performance and water evacuation, attaining an EU grade B label; and the latest all-season silica and resin technology, generating reliable tyre grip over a wide temperature range.
Designed and developed in Cooper’s UK facility in Melksham, the AS7 is due to launch in Q4 2020. It will initially be made available in 19 sizes, with fitments ranging from 15 inch up to 18 inch rims. A further 16 sizes are set to follow in Q2 2021, including fitments up to 19 inch rims.
All-terrain, all-season Cooper Discoverer A/T3 Sport 2
Cooper has also expanded its all-season product range with its launch of its new all-terrain, all-season Discoverer A/T3 Sport 2 tyre. Made for 4x4s and SUVs, the new tyre offers an effective balance between on-road stability and off-road capability, with 3PMSF and M+S ratings proving its capability in all seasons.
The A/T3 Sport 2 includes a new tread compound that helps to gain a 3 per cent improvement over its predecessor in wet grip and an upgraded EU label C grade. Its robust tread design and new compound technology provide enhanced cut and chip resistance. The tyre was proved at the MIRA Technology Park in the UK and the dedicated Cooper Tire & Vehicle Test Center in Texas, USA. The A/T3 Sport 2 also offers increased sidewall protection, with a new compound to guard against the effects of ozone and UV degradation. A non-staining sidewall protects its white lettering from discolouration, improving the tyre’s appearance throughout its life.
Michiel Kramer, sales and marketing director at Cooper Tire Europe, said: “it is important that we continue to make strides in the all-terrain market. With the A/T3 Sport 2, we feel we have achieved another significant step forward.”
Cooper also offers the Discoverer All-Season for SUVs; a tyre designed more for year-round road applications. The tyre has B grade wet grip, as lateral 3D siping and grooves evacuate water more effectively. The latest all-season silica and resin technology ensure that the tire generates grip over a wide temperature range, and an advanced compound construction delivers an even footprint for superior wear results.
