Yokohama to supply Advan Sport V107 to new Mercedes AMGs
Yokohama has been chosen by Mercedes-AMG to supply original tyres on several new models. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, GLE 63 4MATIC+, GLE 63 4MATIC+ Coupé, GLA 35 4MATIC, GLA 45 4MATIC+ and GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ will all run on the Japanese tyre manufacturer’s Advan Sport V107.
The new GLE 53 4MATIC+ and Coupé version are equipped with 285/40ZR22 110Y front tyres and 325/35ZR22 114Y or 275/50ZR20 113Y rear tyres. Meanwhiel the new GLE 63 4MATIC+ and Coupé, which were launched in Europe in March 2020, run on 285/40ZR22 110Y (front) and 325/35ZR22 114Y or 275/50ZR20 113Y (rear). Finally, the GLA 35 4MATIC, GLA 45 4MATIC+ and GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ will be equipped with 19” (size 235/50ZR19 99Y) or 21” (size 255/35ZR21 98Y) Yokohama Advan Sport V107s.
The Advan Sport UHP tyre range was developed by Yokohama for use on premium high-powered cars. The tyre improves the driving performance of the previous Advan Sport V105, while also increasing comfort and safety. The OE versions of the tyre were developed jointly with Mercedes-AMG and carry the car manufacturer’s MO1 marking on the sidewall.
Yokohama has targeted original equipment business with premium tyre manufacturers as a key growth driver in its Grand Design 2020 (GD2020) medium-term management plan. The manufacturer is the eighth largest in the world, with specialisms in performance and “hobby” tyres. The Advan product line is particularly prevalent in a variety of global motorsport series.
