Triangle Tire’s Moglia: ‘We never stopped’
Three years of intense work to open the European headquarters in Milan, build the team, develop and launch dedicated products, gain market share and then… the pandemic. Corrado Moglia, CEO of Triangle Tire in Europe, spoke to group publication PneusNews.it about how the company has dealt with this difficult period.
PneusNews: What consequences has the pandemic had for Triangle Tire?
Corrado Moglia: “Triangle Tire has experienced the pandemic since the first outbreak in China, with the resulting restrictions imposed in February on the country, including the temporary suspension of production and smart working. The lockdown was much shorter than in Europe with a rapid recovery of the internal market. Triangle was also able to increase its market share in this phase, immediately following the reopening.
“Our European headquarters in Milan, in the centre of the most affected area in our country, closed the office even before the lockdown imposed by our government. We started working from our homes, continuing to serve our customers throughout Europe, staying in constant contact with each of them and trying to find solutions to this extraordinary situation together.
“To be sure, our activities never stopped, neither in China nor in Europe. Thanks to the European team, the good support of our colleagues in Weihai and the consolidated partnerships with our distributors, we managed to obtain excellent results during the first half, despite the slowdown in demand.
“The development of the ranges and the introduction of new products in all segments certainly contributed to the performance of the period.”
PN: About a year after its launch, how have the new products been received by the market?
CM: “Last year we launched many new car products: four summer, one all-season and one winter. All these innovations were developed on the impulse of our European team, with particular attention to the new dimensions and the correct speed and load codes for our markets.
“We have also extended our ranges in the truck and earthmoving sectors with new and improved products to meet the needs of end users more and more.
“The good sales results are proof that the investments made in expanding and completing the ranges have been welcomed by our customers.”
PN: What products and initiatives are planned for the next semester and for 2021?
CM: “In car we are introducing two new products to the winter range, one directional for continental Europe and the other studded one dedicated to the Nordic countries. A new summer model for light transport will also be available, which will arrive in the last quarter of the year.
“In truck, the range will be completed mainly with the addition of winter products and the renewal of profiles for urban and suburban passenger transport.
“In earthmoving, the sector in which Triangle is recognized as a reference brand, we have worked intensely for the extension of the range, which will continue in the coming months, relaunching our presence also in the port sector, for which we are already testing with excellent results a new dedicated product.
“In terms of initiatives, we plan to participate in some fairs, including The Tire Cologne in Germany and Intermat in Paris.
“For 2021, we are also planning a European event to support new marketing and product programmes.”
