Alliance introduces three new Forestar 644 sizes
Alliance has introduced three new sizes for its 644 Forestar III tyre. The forestry tyre has earned an excellent reputation since its launch last year. The tyre has undergone extensive field tests against a premium forestry tyre competitor on a harvester in the Czech Republic and on a forwarder in Latvia. During the tests, customers were impressed with the overall performance of the Forestar 644, singling out the tyre’s traction and stability in challenging conditions. Alliance says the test results show that the tyre stands comparison with the premium competition, while offering value for money. The tyre is now available in sizes: 710/40-24.5, 710/55-28.5, and 780/50-28.5. These have been added to the previously launched sizes: 600/50-22.5, 710/40-22.5, 600/55-26.5, 710/45-26.5, 750/55-26.5, and 800/40-26.5.
“When working in remote forest areas, operators need to be sure that they will neither get stuck nor experience a tyre breakdown. The reliable top performance of the 644 Forestar III easily stands comparisons with more expensive premium competition tyres. Owners will surely enjoy the fact that they can benefit from this excellent performance for a more than competitive price,” summarises Angelo Noronha, president EMEA at Alliance Tire Group.
Forestry operational requirements
Forestry operations mean tough environments, heavy loads, sharp-edged obstacles such as tree stumps, and a challenging mix of surfaces ranging from bare rock to sticky mud. The current state of many forests throughout Europe adds to the challenge: Due to damage either caused by storm, drought, or bark beetles, large amounts of harvested timber need to be taken out of the wood lands quickly and reliably. Alliance says that alongside this, its G44 Forestar III also offers protection of the fragile natural system of forest soil.
The tyre’s wide tread ensures a large footprint, which in turn reduces ground pressure and therefore reduces soil compaction. The 644 Forestar III features distinctive wide lug centre blocks to deliver traction without tracks, allowing for easy transfers on forest roads. The tyre can equally and easily be operated with tracks too, proving its adaptability.
Wide centre block lugs promote stability and riding comfort, while the dual lug angle optimises both traction and durability. A lower angle at the shoulder enhances traction, while the higher angle at the centre of the tyre reduces wear and ensures durability. The wider shoulder lugs with high fillet radius enhance the lateral stability of the 644 Forestar III, increasing traction further.
Importantly in woody environments, the tyre’s unique shoulder buttress design strengthens the tyre’s sidewalls and provides high stiffness. Alliance adds that the curb-rib design enhances protection against side impacts and cracks.
