EU tyre label regulation update published
The European Union has published the new tyre labelling regulation, after it was confirmed by a vote in May. Appearing in the Official Journal of the European Union last Friday, the act will now come into effect as planned on 1 May, 2021.
The OJEU listing states that Regulation (EU) 2020/740 of the European Parliament and of the Council “on the labelling of tyres with respect to fuel efficiency and other parameters, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 and repealing Regulation (EC) No. 1222/2009” will be written into law on 20 June of this year, but will only apply from next May. Readers can read the full regulation here.
New revisions to the label include a reduction in the number of classes for the key characteristics of wet grip and fuel efficiency, letter ratings for noise, and a new winter performance indicator.
