Goodyear Farm Tires secures new UK distributor
Cornwall-based tyre specialist Geoffrey Harris Tyres has become the latest UK distributor of Goodyear Farm Tires. The company, which sold Goodyear agricultural tyres from 1968 to 2011, wasted no time renewing that relationship when the famous brand returned to the UK and European markets this year.
Mike Harris, a director of Geoffrey Harris Tyres, said: “We have been long-term advocates of Goodyear Farm Tires and were delighted to see them returning to the market.
“For more than 40 years, Goodyear supplied the vast majority of products for our agricultural business and there are positive vibes amongst our customers about its return.
“Most of our business comes from Cornwall and South Devon where there is an established farming community and there is a genuine respect for Goodyear products because of the quality and durability they have shown over the years.
“The appetite to use Goodyear Farm Tires is strong so we would expect to see very encouraging sales in 2020 and beyond.”
Geoffrey Harris Tyres, which also supplies tyres for cars and commercial vehicles, strengthens the distribution network in the south of England.
The new range of Goodyear Farm Tires complements the current radial portfolio. It includes 85, 70, 65 and XL Tractor Drive Radials, as well as specific designs for sprayers, harvesters and industrial applications. Plans are already in place to expand the offering over the next 18 months.
Lindsay Hart, European tyre sales director for Titan International, which has been responsible for Goodyear’s return to the UK and European markets, said: “Geoffrey Harris Tyres has an excellent reputation in the south west of England and we are delighted to have renewed the long-standing relationship between them and Goodyear Farm Tires.
“We are hugely excited to be expanding the Goodyear Farm Tires range for the UK and mainland Europe and we are seeing a very positive reaction.
“Our distribution network is constantly growing and we look forward to building on that strong foundation.”
Titan International has been manufacturing Goodyear Farm Tires in America for more than a decade and has recently purchased the licence for the European and UK markets. It has also made a significant investment in new plant and equipment to manufacture tyres specifically for the European market.
