Falken Azenis FK510 wins Porsche Macan approval
Falken has won original equipment approval from Porsche, demonstrating the increasing premiumisation of the Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ brand. Falken is supplying the current generation of the Porsche Macan with the SUV version of the Falken Azenis FK510 in sizes 235/60R18 and 255/55R18. The tyres are rated W for speed (up to 270 km/h) and have load indexes of 103 and 105 respectively.
The Azenis FK510, Falken’s flagship ultra-high performance tyre, has been available in an SUV variant since 2017. The tyre’s carcass is built to promote precise steering and refinement, is demonstrated through high levels of driving comfort and well-balanced overall driving characteristics.
The Porsche Macan is geared towards sporty drivers who will make use of the full ability of the tyres. The ACP (Adaptive Constant Pressure) tread technology improves braking performance, directional stability and driving dynamics. In addition to the tyre’s braking characteristics on wet surfaces, the Azenis FK510 SUV also has a long tread life, the manufacturer states. Using 4D Nano design technology, Falken engineers designed a rubber compound for the FK510 series which, in addition to providing a high degree of grip, also offers improved wear resistance.
“With the introduction of these tyres, we have continued to apply our strategy of consistently offering an extensive range in growing and profitable segments,” explains Christian Stolting, key account manager OE at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH. “Awarding us the factory fitting for the Porsche Macan doesn’t just confirm this strategy, but also speaks volumes for the quality of our tyres. Supplying Porsche with our tyres is a bit of an accolade for us!”
