What does the Bugatti La Voiture Noire drive on?
Most expensive car on mystery tyres…
Electric supercars may have been the talk of the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, but the most expensive vehicle there – and anywhere else in the world for the matter – was the Bugatti La Voiture Noire. The Noire features, a carbon fibre body, a 1,500 horsepower 16-cylinder engine and an enormous US$11 million price tag.
While we know that the Noire has been built in recognition of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary and the BBC is reporting that the first one has been bought by Ferdinand Piech, the grandson of the founder of Porsche, what we don’t know is what tyres the car is fitted with. Normally tyre manufacturers jockey for position on the sidewalls of the most attractive cars in the world. And, in the case of the Bugatti Veyron, Michelin could boast the most expensive set of car tyres in the world fitted to the most expensive and fastest car at the time. However, this time round there was no indication of who is making the tyres – just some silver swooshes where the brand name usually is.
Having said all that, considering Michelin supplied the Veyron and considering that every other car at the Bugatti stand featured Michelin tyres – it would seem the French tyre maker is a reasonable bet.
