Cooper Tire opens ‘central’ US warehouse
The million square foot (92,900 square metre), centrally-located warehouse that Cooper Tire & Rubber Company erected near three of its factories in the USA is now in operation. The new warehouse in Byhalia, Mississippi employs approximately 100 people and is Cooper’s largest distribution centre nationwide.
Located amongst Cooper’s manufacturing plants in Findlay, Ohio, Texarkana, Arkansas, and Tupelo, Mississippi, the new facility allows the tyre maker to efficiently consolidate and distribute products directly to customers as well as supply its regional distribution centres. The warehouse has the capacity to expand to an additional 400,000 square feet (37,200 square metres) as needed in the future.
“We are excited to have now opened this new facility, which serves to enhance our logistics infrastructure, supporting our efforts to offer exceptional service to our customers as we get tyres to them when and where they want them,” said Bob Sager, Cooper’s director of supply chain. “This facility is a complement to our existing US distribution network that includes six regional distribution centres, three plant manufacturing warehouses and a mixing warehouse, making Cooper even more flexible and responsive to customer needs.”
