Hankook expands SmartWork tyre line
The range of Hankook tyres for construction site applications has been expanded through the addition of new mixed on/off-road patterns to the SmartWork line. These are the SmartWork AM11 steer axle tyre, DM11 drive axle fitment and TM11 trailer tyre.
In addition to its designation as a steer axle fitment, the SmartWork AM11 can be used as an all-axle fitment. The tyre features a tread pattern with three wide, zigzagged main drainage grooves, a configuration designed to improve hydroplaning safety. Rubber blocks in the grooves hinder the lodgement of stones in the tread. Traction is facilitated by the tread’s angular sipe design, while chamfered block edges and sipes on the tread blocks contribute towards greater block stability and also improve braking and handling response. Other SmartWork AM11 characteristics include a closed shoulder design that provides improved driving stability, lateral stability and even abrasion.
The main point of difference between the SmartWork TM11 and the AM11 is the trailer tyre’s half-open shoulder design. Lateral grooves enhance tyre traction, particularly on muddy or snow-covered roads and on construction sites. Both the SmartWork AM11 and the SmartWork TM11 are M+S marked.
The SmartWork DM11 drive axle tyre features a directional V-shaped tread design. Hankook Tire says this pattern aids the displacement of mud and water encountered in construction sites. The interblock tie-bars at the centre of the SmartWork DM11 ensure high block stability and guarantee outstanding straight driving performance and impact dispersion for blocks, thereby improving durability. Three-dimensional sipes also enhance tyre traction. Thanks to its 3PMSF snowflake marking, the SmartWork DM11 is suitable for use under strong winter conditions.
