Discount Tire opens 1,000th branch
US retailer is the largest tyre chain in the world
Discount Tire announced the opening of the franchise’s 1,000th tyre store located in Phoenix, Arizona on 12 September 2018. The store design may appear the same as every other neighbourhood Discount Tire location, but the new store at 24725 N 23rd Ave will hold a place of significance in the hearts of many who know the brand or have worked for the company.
Founded in 1960, Discount Tire has grown from a one-man tyre shop in Ann Arbor, Michigan, into the nation’s leading tyre retailer. The company reached 200 stores in 1990 and has doubled in size since reaching store number 500 in 2002. Discount Tire attributes its success to the respectful, can-do attitude that began at Bruce Halle’s first store and is instilled in each of the company’s more than 20,000 employees today.
Discount Tire sells a wide selection of leading tyre brands including Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, BFGoodrich, Pirelli, Falken, Continental and Cooper along with Discount Tire-exclusive brands such as Arizonian, Road Hugger and Pathfinder. Discount Tire also offers a variety of custom wheel brands including MB, Vision, American Outlaw, TSW, Liquid Metal and Konig. The tyre retailer currently has stores in 34 states, with plans to expand in three more states in the near future.
“This is an incredibly exciting day for the Discount Tire family and we are proud to be sharing this achievement with the Phoenix community,” said Lisa Pedersen, assistant vice president, marketing at Discount Tire. “Reaching 1,000 stores is truly a testament to Bruce Halle’s dream and commitment to treating people right. Bruce always said ‘once we get to 1,000, let’s go open the next thousand – as long as we stay true to who we are’. We will continue to responsibly grow and honour Bruce’s legacy on which the company was built.”
Discount Tire is heavily involved in motorsports, serving as a primary sponsor of the No. 2 Ford Fusion driven by Brad Keselowski in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The firm also sponsors the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
