Bridgestone investing 24 million euros in Spanish truck tyre plant
Bridgestone Corp. is investing 24 million euros ($28.2 million) in order to produce a new line of 24-inch radial truck tyres suited for on- and off-road applications at its Puente San Miguel, Spain, factory.
According to the company, the line will feature robots, automatically guided vehicles, testing and production machinery. At the same time energy efficiency will be improved.
Bridgestone has already committed $40 million of investment at the 53-year-old Puente San Miguel farm and OTR tyre plant under its 2018-21 strategic plan.
The first tyres produced by the newly-expanded factory are expected to roll off the production line in 2019.
As a result of the investment truck tyre production capacity is expected to reach 500 tyres per day, Bridgestone noted. The plant’s capacity is currently listed as 800 farm, OTR and industrial tyres a day.
