Two tyre lines to spearhead Sumitomo launch in Europe
The Sumitomo range launched in Europe will initially include the BC100 car and SUV range (l) and the SL727 van tyre
Further to news from Micheldever wholesale director Alan Baldwin that the Sumitomo tyre brand is coming to the UK and Europe and will be positioned as an entry-level mid-range brand beneath the Falken brand, the sales director for Falken Tyre Europe’s replacement market business in Germany has shared details on the range heading our way.
Speaking with our German sister publication Neue Reifenzeitung, Jürgen Koch shares that the Sumitomo range for Europe will initially focus on summer tyres. The key product is the BC100 passenger car and SUV range, which will be available in 13- to 19-inch rim diameters, 85 to 30 series and T to W speed ratings. Koch says 67 sizes will be introduced at the start of 2018 and the range will then be extended to 86 sizes during the year.
A van tyre, the Sumitomo SL727, will also be released. The launch range at the start of 2018 will consist of 12 sizes, with 13 further sizes joining the line-up during the year. The Sumitomo SL727 will be available in dimensions for 14- to 16-inch rim diameters, 80 to 65 series and R to T speed ratings.
Both new Sumitomo models are produced at the Sumitomo Rubber Industries plant in Thailand.
