KTM approves Maxxis Supermaxx ST on 790 Duke
Maxxis shares that it has been selected to provide original equipment tyres to the new KTM 790 Duke. The supply arrangement was announced at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan last month.
KTM calls the 790 Duke the “sharpest tool in the shed” and says it was “developed with one task in mind: to dominate the street.” The combination of a light, state-of-the-art chassis with the new LC8c engine means there is no shortage of torque, or – as KTM puts it – riders enjoy “a 105-horsepower rush blasting out of corners and a huge grin on your face.” Maxxis says its Supermaxx ST “complements this delivering power and responsiveness in abundance,” adding that the tyre gives a perfect balance of performance between the road and track that “delivers an outstanding ride” when demanded.
“Its new tread design and groove arrangement increases traction and handling performance in the wet, while its nano-silica compound gives extra tyre strength, improving both wet and dry grip,” writes Maxxis. “Moreover, its improved construction, including spiral steel belt and advanced sidewall rigidity, enhances cornering capabilities at higher speeds.”
Commenting on the news, Maxxis’ managing director, Derek McMartin, said: “We are extremely honoured to have been chosen to partner with KTM on such a fantastic bike. This is a very exciting deal for us, and again reinforces the fact that we produce excellent quality tyres that are able to deliver exceptional performance. To have been recognised for this, and selected to complement the long-awaited KTM 790 Duke, is a huge compliment.
“The EICMA event gave us the perfect opportunity to make the announcement. Hundreds of thousands of motorcycle fanatics joined us at the show, all eager to know more about our tyres and all that they are able to achieve. I’m confident that the KTM 790 Duke and our Supermaxx ST tyres form the perfect partnership.”
