Bridgestone continues rollout of Toolbox platform
Toolbox is the name Bridgestone Corporation has given to its latest-generation digital tyre assessment and asset tracking platform for bus and truck tyres. Available as both a desktop and mobile application, Toolbox is already available in Europe and several other global regions, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and Latin America, and is scheduled for release in Japan next month. By the end of 2017, it will be deployed in more than 80 countries, and available in over 30 languages.
The aim of Toolbox is to empower Bridgestone’s mobile workforce. The tyre maker says the platform is designed to deliver meaningful and actionable insights to fleet customers during tyre inspections. It can also provide matching results with the actual operating conditions, as well as a profile of the customer to help optimise overall tyre usage, tyre selection and maintenance practices. Toolbox is also expected to contribute the digitalisation of Bridgestone’s value chain by providing invaluable data to improve tyre development cycles.
Toolbox is fully integrated with Bridgestone’s other digital assets, including its BASys end-to-end retread management platform and Tirematics, the company’s latest IoT powered tyre pressure and temperature solution.
In January 2017, Bridgestone established a dedicated organisation called the ‘Digital Solution Center’, which is tasked with accelerating the global development and deployment of digital solutions across the value chain. With these digital assets, Bridgestone says it is continuing its commitment towards information and communication technology, while also providing customers with new and innovative business models.
