Grouptyre continues warehousing investment

Grouptyre has continued to invest in warehousing – overall it has 40 local/regional warehouses operated individually by its 10 regional members – and its e-commerce system, GroupLink, this year. The group reports a turnover of more than £310m, and collectively employs more than 1,200 people, of which 42 are business development managers; three regional sales managers cover the country. A nationwide fleet of more than 450 vans make, on average, deliveries to tyre retailers at least twice a day, with greater frequency and on-demand deliveries in some areas.

The GroupLink virtual warehouse gives customers access to instant stock check, pricing, alternative recommendation and ordering. Tyre retailers, old and new, are offered free full on-site training of GroupLink, provided by an experienced Grouptyre representative to ensure the web-based tool is utilised to its full potential. The group offers retail customers assistance in setting up a website, and with its Tyres Online tool, retailers can have access to the online market without making any significant investment. This addresses the continuing growth of online tyre purchases, which is increasingly the preferred channel for younger motorists. Tyres Online features as a button on the retail partner’s website, and although it is not a full e-commerce website, it displays tyre availability and price, allowing the consumer to reserve stock and schedule a tyre for fitting.

Grouptyre continues to offer an extensive range of car, van and 4×4 tyres from all the major tyre manufacturers, with exclusive brands including Constancy, Evergreen, Goodride, Landsail, and Rapid. This range of exclusive brands has been assembled to offer a competitive pricing strategy, a broad range of fitments across car, SUV, and van segments, and high labelling ratings, Grouptyre states. The wholesaler also offers retail support packages on its exclusive brands, including POS and merchandise. The company supplies more than 7,000 product lines, and has approximately 1.5 million tyres in stock at any time.
