Fontijne Grotnes production rebrands as Fontijne Holland
The formerly Fontijne Grotnes-owned wheel production lines have started producing under the Fontijne Holland name. When the Vlaardingen-based firm Fontijne Grotnes declared bankruptcy late last year, it became apparent that certain parts of the company were generating widespread interest. Since the business unit for wheel production lines had always been successful and profitable, the fresh start for that business unit has now been confirmed.
Fontijne Holland is sole owner of all the exclusive intellectual property rights related to these wheel productions lines. As such, Fontijne Holland is the only company worldwide which holds the rights to manufacture or sell these high-quality production lines, or to supply spare parts, perform periodic maintenance, or service the lines.
According to the company, preparations are currently moving forward rapidly to get the organisation up and running at full capacity. For example, the Vlaardingen site of the former parent company is currently being rebuilt to house the new headquarters and production hall of Fontijne Holland. Many of the new company’s employees had previously held jobs at the former parent company. “I have opted for experienced, qualified personnel in key positions: from engineering to assembly, and from testing to service & maintenance. That choice enables me to guarantee that our team actually has the knowledge and experience needed to provide our clients with expert support,” says Kees Scholtes, the proud COO and local manager of Fontijne Holland.
The former parent company, Fontijne, was established in 1909 in Schiedam and moved to Vlaardingen in 1954. The firm’s activities included the manufacture of machines for the automotive, oil and gas industries, as well as plate presses and machines for the household appliances sector. In 1964, Fontijne embarked on an intensive partnership with an American company: Grotnes. The two companies went their separate ways decades later, after which Fontijne Holland eventually acquired Grotnes Metal-forming Systems in 2000. Fontijne Grotnes grew steadily, expanding from a local production company to an internationally oriented major player. Cutting-edge technologies were used in the wheel production lines, carrying this business unit to the forefront of the market. Fontijne Holland is extremely enthusiastic about the future and will make every effort to continue consolidating its position as market leader.
