Falken concludes best VLN season to-date, shows off winning car designs
The 2017 VLN Endurance Championship is, states Falken Tyre Europe, its most successful season to date. The win by the Falken Motorsports BMW M6 GT3 in the fourth race of the season gave the tyre maker its first overall victory since the start of its Nürburgring commitment in 1999. The Porsche 911 GT3 R team added two more podium finishes later in the season. The final race of the season took place on the weekend with Falken Motorsport team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Klaus Bachler and Romain Dumas, taking fourth place. Peter Dumbreck and Stef Dusseldorp had a great race in their BMW M6 GT3 coming from behind to finish in 11th place overall.
At the final race of the season, Falken also presented a new design for both cars. As part of the Falken ‘Design Challenge’, motorsport fans from all over the world had been able to submit their proposals on Facebook. For the Porsche 911 GT3 R, a design by Dirk Hinzmann was selected that referenced the Nürburgring Nordschleife route. The fan community voted for Saunas Ramoska’s proposal for the BMW M6 GT3, which combined various graphic elements from the Falken modular system.
“We are looking back with pride on a successful season,” states Stephan Cimbal, mead of marketing at Falken Tyre Europe. “In addition to the historic first VLN win, we also enjoyed several successful finishes in no less than three drift series. Moreover, Falken driver Yoshihide Muroya won the last Red Bull Air Race in Indianapolis, thus becoming World Champion. All of these successes are a wonderful confirmation both for our athletes and for our products, brand and companies. Our Masters of Excitement’ campaign that has been launched across Europe this year is also crowned by these successes.”
