Over 2000 people sign NTDA part-worn ban petition

At the start of August the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) started an online petition calling for a complete ban on the sale of part-worn tyres. The move follows inspections carried out over several years into the sale of part-worn tyres, which show serious safety breaches are common.

“The current regulations are not working and we are seeing more and more illegal tyres being fitted to cars. That is why we are calling, in the absence of greater enforcement of the regulations or an effective form of industry self-regulation, for a complete ban on part-worn tyres. Unless drastic action is taken now we may see the casualty and death toll rise as a result of illegal and defective tyres”, the NTDA said on its change.org petition page.

So far over 2000 people have signed the petition. The petition page can be viewed here: https://www.change.org/p/greg-clark-mp-ban-the-sale-of-illegal-and-defective-part-worn-tyres?recruiter=754266262&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition
