Almost 400,000 Primewell tyres recalled in the USA
A total of 394,378 Primewell brand passenger car tyres are being recalled in the USA due to their potential to develop cracks in the lower sidewall. Beginning 20 July, GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. is recalling the replacement market Primewell Valera Touring II in sizes 185/65R14 86H, 195/60R15 88H, 205/55R16 91H, 205/60R16 92V, 215/60R17 96H and 235/60R17 102T.
The tyres involved can be identified as follows:
Size 185/65R14 86H: Produced between 1 April 2015 and 20 November 2016. TIN (Tire Identification Number) Y9 LX CLHX 1415 4616.
Size 195/60R15 88H: Produced between 1 April 2015 and 31 December 2016. TIN Y9 K5 CLHX 1415 5216.
Size 205/55R16 91H: Produced between 1 July 2014 and 31 December 2016. TIN Y9 JL CLHX 2714 5216.
Size 205/60R16 92V: Produced between 1 August 2014 and 31 December 2016. TIN Y9 J5 CLVX 3114 5216.
Size 215/60R17 96H: Produced between 1 July 2014 and 4 December 2014. TIN Y9 H0 CLHX 2714 4816.
Size 235/60R17 102T: Produced between 1 September 2014 and 27 November 2016. TIN Y9 HR CLTX 3614 4716.
Of the close to 400,000 subject tyres sold to distributors/dealers/users in the USA; Giti Tire (USA) estimates that 0.06 per cent of these tyres exhibit the condition. Of the 219 tyres reported and inspected by 30 June, none had experienced a loss of air pressure.
Giti Tire states that recalled tyres will be replaced free of charge, including mounting, balancing, and taxes.
