Prometeon to launch new Pirelli Itineris tyre range at Autopromotec
Prometeon Tyre Group (the former Pirelli Industrial business unit) is to make its first public appearance at the Autopromotec fair. Prometeon is hosting a multi-brand stand with Pirelli-branded and truck, bus and agricultural products as well Aeolus-branded truck, bus and OTR tyres. The news follows the announcement on 13 April that Pirelli’s Industrial activities will be integrated with Aeolus and identified by a new blue and grey logo headed Prometeon Tyre Group.
New Pirelli Itineris line
The first launch at the show is of Prometeon Tyre Group’s new Pirelli Itineris mid-tier truck tyre line. This includes the Itineris T90, which has been developed in size 385/65 R 22.5 and features a new tread design and compound specifically aimed at regional applications. The tyre brings top-level performance to the segment owing to both its mileage and A-grade wet grip.
Triathlon Line extended
According to the company, the Triathlon line is “the most versatile of the Pirelli :01 Series, the Pirelli Premium range, suitable for both regional and long-distance use, responding to the most selective requirements of European fleets”. It is designed to offer high mileage, low rolling resistance, high reliability and safety in all conditions, including winter. In addition has been designed to be retreadable, increasing service life and lowering total cost of ownership.
The new Pirelli Triathlon ST: 01 completes the Triathlon range launched in 2016. Triathlon ST: 01 is dedicated to regional and long-haul trailers. Excellent performances under all weather conditions, even with snow-covered surfaces, and in the wet, are ensured thanks to the special cross-slots on all three ribs.
The new Pirelli Triathlon FR: 01 and TR: 01 will also be launched in the 17.5 size.
PHP: The new premium agro line
Prometeon is also launching the new Pirelli PHP radial tyre in order to “ensure the highest performances of agricultural equipment and the resulting maximum crop”. The PHP radial line is produced in Brazil’s Santo Andrè factory and is designed to respond to the different needs of European farmers.
The Pirelli PHP range is the result of a multi-year collaboration, coordinated between Prometeon Research and Development centers in Milano-Bicocca and Santo André in Brazil. The two centres have tested the products through a highly technological development process with intensive laboratory and open air tests, both on the field and on the road, to ensure maximum performance in all conditions and for all applications.
Prometeon Tyre Group, formerly Pirelli Industrial, is the company head of the group that manufactures and commercializes truck, bus, agricultural and OTR Pirelli tyres under license. Four factories (2 in Brazil, 1 in Egypt and 1 in Turkey) make up the Group’s production structure and two R&D centres in both Milan and Santo Andre in Brazil, represent the heart of the product portfolio innovation. Over 7,000 people work in the Prometeon Group, which until March 2017 operated within the Pirelli Group. The Prometeon Group is present in over 160 countries around the world, and it is 52 per cent owned by TP Industrial Holding (100 per cent owned by Marco Polo International Italy, Pirelli’s controlling shareholder), 38 per cent by CINDA (a Chinese International Investment company) and 10 per cent by Aeolus (a Chinese company active in the production of industrial tyres).
