Davidson and Paul shine in GT Cup with Pirelli
Graham Davidson and Dominic Paul enjoyed perfect weekends when the Pirelli-supplied GT Cup took to Brands Hatch for the second event of 2017.
Davidson made it six wins from as many races this year in his McLaren MP4-12C GT3, despite a nervy conclusion to race three when a wheel bearing broke with five laps to go and his ABS failed on the last lap.
Paul took a hat-trick of wins in the GTA group in his Ginetta G55, excelling on his first visit to the Brands Hatch grand prix loop. “It’s beautiful on this circuit, I love it, it suits my driving,” he said. “The Ginetta is great out the back, I can throw it into the corners and balance it. It suits ‘on the limit’ driving, and I enjoy endurance stuff so I was able to bang in consistent laps. I was treating every lap like qualifying, I didn’t back off!”
In GTB, Tom Webb won the first two races in his BMW M3 GTR ahead of the Marcos of Warren Gilbert, but in the finale it was Neil Huggins who avoided trouble to win in his Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo.
James Little was the GTC winner in the first two races in his Ferrari 458 before Jake Rattenbury took victory in race three in a Huracan Super Trofeo.
