Goodyear introduces high load TreadMax trailer tyres

The TreadMax KMAX T HL is the retread version of the Goodyear KMAX T HL trailer tyre

Increased permissible weights for commercial vehicles in Europe is driving demand for high load truck tyres, and in response Goodyear has launched new mould cure retread High Load (HL) trailer tyres. The new retreads are the TreadMax KMAX T HL and TreadMax SP246 HL, both in size 385/65R22.5.

The TreadMax KMAX T HL is the retread version of the Goodyear KMAX T HL trailer tyre, which is developed to deliver high mileage. The TreadMax SP246 HL is the retread version of the Dunlop SP246 HL, which is part of the Dunlop On-Road truck tyre range introduced last year.

The TreadMax process utilises the same tread designs as well as similar materials and manufacturing techniques to those used in the production of the new tyres they replicate. This, Goodyear comments, ensures similar performance and mileage to those of new tyres.

“We are very pleased to now also offer retread versions of the Goodyear and Dunlop High Load trailer tyres,” comments
Grégory Boucharlat, director Retread Operations Goodyear Dunlop Tires EMEA. “More and more countries in Europe have extended regulations to permit axle weights in excess of the so far standard 40 tonnes on five-axle articulated vehicles. As a result, we see an increasing demand from fleet operators for high load trailer tyres capable of enabling total weights in excess of 40 tonnes.

“With the new TreadMax KMAX T and TreadMax SP246 in High Load we now can offer an attractive and cost effective solution for their needs,” continues Boucharlat. “Retreading is essential for any fleet to help improving its efficiency by ensuring the prolonged economic life of its tyres. The new High Load products mean that fleets requiring 10 tonne axle loads are now able to use retreads for even greater economy.”

Only the latest generation Goodyear or Dunlop High Load casings, for example the KMAX T HL, FUELMAX T HL and SP246 HL trailer tyres, are accepted as customer owned casings (COC) for the manufacture of the TreadMax retreads. Later this year, Goodyear will introduce further order options in addition to COC. All TreadMax mould cure retreads are produced in-house by Goodyear at its plants in Riom, France and Wittlich, Germany.           sg
