RL Automotive promoting TyreWatch Predictive Tyre Management at CV Show

RL Automotive has announced plans to outline its TyreWatch PTM (Predictive Tyre Management) technology at the CV Show.

Part-funded by InnovateUK during 2016-2018 as part of the UK’s CAV (Connected & Automated Vehicles) programme, Tyrewatch PTM will be using AI (Artificial Intelligence), specialist software and enhanced satellite connectivity to provide a predictive solution to tyre management and maintenance.

TyeWatch PTM has all the same benefits to fleet operators as a fully independent TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), which include improved fuel consumption, tyre life and operator safety. What sets TyreWatch PTM apart is its use of Mobile IoT (Internet of Things) to predict problems before they occur and communicate them in real time, so that the workshop can manage by exception.

According to the company, all this makes scheduling of maintenance more efficient because – amongst other things – maintenance reports inform the workshop of the issues before the vehicle arrives.

As a result, technicians can concentrate on the problem without having to spend valuable time investigating – only the tyres that need corrective actions are touched.

“Developments in Internet and wireless technology, coupled with AI, give us an unparalleled opportunity to predict potential tyre problems and take pre-emptive action, leading to a safer and more efficient working environment”, Mark Longden, director of R L Automotive based in Didcot Oxfordshire, commented.

RL Automotive has developed several advanced tyre measurement products including a patented, portable tyre tread and wear, laser measurement device – TACScan.
